On Monday, Jan. 2, the bird of prey flew into a home in Greenburgh, leading the homeowner to call police for help, Greenburgh police said.

After arriving at the house, officers were able to throw a blanket over the distressed bird and carry it back outside.

There, the bird was able to regain its bearings and eventually fly away, as seen in a short video of the incident released by the department. Click here to watch the video.

Luckily, the hawk only suffered injuries to its pride.

The homeowner who requested the help of police to assist with removing the hawk did the right thing, according to New York State Police.

"It’s dangerous, birds of prey can be difficult to help so please do not attempt on your own," state police said in a post from Tuesday, Jan. 3, the same day that an injured hawk in South Salem was rescued from a roadway and given to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator with a broken wing.
